WHO WE ARE

Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. was founded on April 1, 1991 by Hector M. Maldonado.

Mr. Maldonado started his career in the steel industry 28 years earlier working for Palmer Steel Supplies, Inc. as a steel shop helper. After Palmer Steel decided to close their rebar division in early 1991, Mr. Maldonado seized the opportunity to start out on his own.

Today, Rio Grande Steel Ltd. is owned by Mr. Maldonado and his wife, Criselda Maldonado. They employ about one hundred dedicated men and women in their three locations valley wide. With over 120,000 square feet of warehouse space and 7,500 square feet of showroom and office space, Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. is fully stocked and ready to help with any construction application and need you may encounter.

As the company has grown to meet the construction needs of South Texas, the fabrication of reinforcing steel still remains the specialty and the backbone of Rio Grande Steel Ltd. With the growing demands of quicker turnarounds and more precise workmanship on fabricated rebar projects, Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. relies on the latest rebar equipment and on the countless years of experience of its team.

Rio Grande Steel, Ltd. also owns and operates its own fleet of delivery vehicles. They have put forth a big effort in doing this to assure their customers a timely delivery. Fleet includes tractor trailers, bobtail trucks and pick up trucks. It does not matter how large or small the delivery is, Rio Grande Steel Ltd. has a delivery vehicle the right size for every job.
